Award by the Austrian Federal Computing Centre
At this year's WeAreDevelopers World Congress in Vienna, one of our colleagues did a truly extraordinary job. Intact's Software Architect Mathias Schober won the #machinelearninghackathon of the Austrian Federal Computing Centre.
We Are Not Surprised!
Europe's largest developers conference attracted over 8,000 developers from all over the world to the Austrian capital. With guest speakers such as Apple founding member Steve Wozniak or Joel Spolsky, founder of Stack Overflow and Trello, this is no surprise. Topics on the agenda included Blockchain, Teams 3.0, IoT, Security, CMS and much more. The so-called "Woodstock of Developers" not only offered lectures, but also the opportunity to participate in workshops and competitions.
One of these competitions was organized by the Austrian Federal Computing Centre. The 120+ registered participants were supposed to write a program in only 90 minutes, which should be able to predict the change in price of real estate in a certain part of the Vienna city area as accurately as possible. With the real estate prices of another district and some other parameters being available, Mathias Schober used a Python script to make a realistic prediction. Finally, all results were benchmarked against actual real estate prices and a final valuation was made. As it turned out, Mathias made the most accurate prediction and clearly prevailed over the competition.
Mathias has been with us for over fifteen years and has played a crucial part in making Intact the company it is today. We are very proud of his performance in this contest and are fortunate to have such a capable colleague in our team, where he keeps amazing us with his performance on a regular basis.
